“I am so proud to be an American…Do you love your freedom!?”

Sarah Palin, once again, has displayed her unmatched ability to conjure patriotic pride from a speech bashing current politics and promising vague and sweeping ideas for reform. Her keynote speech at the National Tea Party Convention in Tennessee provided Palin the chance to stake her claim as leader of the Tea Party movement; however, many members have claimed that this party is what it is because of its lack of defined leadership, and surprisingly Palin herself noted in her speech that “You don’t need a proclaimed leader…to progress this movement.” This does beg the question as to what her motives are, but I am still confident that this Alaskan housewife is still seeking this movements support for her rumored 2012 presidential bid.

One last thing that I would like to point out, is Palin's praising of newly elected Massachusetts' Senator Scott Brown for being a simple American with a truck who didn't like the way Washington was being run. Well, as it turns out, Sarah Palin is an idiot. Scott Brown has held an elected position in Massachusetts since 1992. He seems more of a career politician than most politicians!!!

Andrew Young....Smart or Creepy?

As many of you have probably heard, former Edward's aide, Andrew Young has turned over a copy of the Edward's sex tape which he had salvaged from Rielle Hunter's recently rented home. Hunter had attempted to destroy the tape by ranking the reel out of the cassette; however, Young was able to save the footage. The court is demanding that Young turn over all copies, but he is refusing and keeping one copy in a safe deposit box in Atlanta. Of course, the reasons for the court wanting the tape are obvious, Young's reasons for keeping it though, are less than. He has stated that he has turned down large sums of money for the tape which begs the question....why keep it at all? It seems very creepy to me that Young is hoarding a video tape of his former boss nailing his mistress, especially when it currently stands to serve him no gain. If anyone has any insight...please, divulge!!!

Bobby McDonnell

WOW.......

"Republicans want results, not partisanship....." Is Gov. McDonnell serious? His entire speech called for less government, partisan policies, unrealistic reform, and inhumane treatment of prisoners. The thing which really pisses me off the most was his belief that affordable healthcare for all could be established by intelligent reform and avoiding raising taxes and keeping coverage in the hands of private insurance companies. Well, Bobby, if that is the case, if Republicans hold the key to this mystical reform....WHY HAVEN't THEY EVER BEEN IMPLEMENTED!!!!??? This was the most partisan, idealistic, unrealistic, rubbish speech that I have ever heard.

8 year old's allowance

Did he actually send that young boy's allowance to Haiti? Or did he send a letter back saying....

"Unless you have another five million dollars, your ten bucks isn't going to help."

Please ask, I'll tell!!!

Over the past year, voters across the nation have been waiting for President Obama to repeal the "don't ask, don't tell" policy which stains the reputation of the United States' armed forces. A campaign promise which lesbians, homosexuals, and allies alike have been waiting to be fulfilled for the past year has just been promised once again. Of course, one hopes that President Obama means business this time, but perhaps I should not hold my breath.

P.S. I loved the zoom in on the military officials after the stated promise to repeal the archaic policy.

"This war is ending, and all of our troops are coming home"

Much to my surprise, Obama has just made the promise to withdraw all troops from Iraq by the end of August. A bold promise, and I certainly hope he delivers.

Correction: This has always been the plan; however....

"For the most part, Obama's plan is faithful to his campaign promises. It calls for the end of combat operations and the withdrawal of most of the 142,000 troops in Iraq by August 31, 2010 (slightly longer than the sixteen-month timeline he proposed during the election). But the plan includes a major asterisk that should be of concern to all who opposed the war and who supported a complete withdrawal of American forces: it would leave in Iraq a residual force of as many as 50,000 troops until the end of 2011, the date the US-Iraq Status of Forces Agreement stipulates the removal of all US troops. According to the president, this transitional force would have three missions: training Iraqi security forces, carrying out anti-terrorism missions and protecting American civilian and military forces."

Opening the Flood Gates

As the President was addressing the mistrust which American citizens have shown towards Washington, Obama took a strict stance against Lobbyists. Amongst the very standard arguments for reform against interest groups, Obama took a much appreciated stab at the Supreme Court's recent decision to remove caps on corporate campaign contributions. Not only do I strongly agree and encourage more of these criticism, but I absolutely love that all justices are sitting right in front of the president.....straight faced.

OBAMA+Post-Secondary Education=Please Implement!!!!!

$10,000 tax credit for four years of college and increased grants!!!! Not to mention cutting down on the percentages of loan paybacks, especially if going into public service post graduation. Obama's ideas on post-secondary education have always appealed to me, and I would love to see the US with a more European educational monetary credit system!!!

BOLD STATEMENT

"We need to export more of our goods...."

I agree

How long should America put its future on hold?

I have been asking myself this question all year....and it has been directed at President Obama. We are supposed to be a progressive country, being the guiding light for political and social reform; however, President Obama has yet to close Guantanamo, cut down on troops, or protect the rights of the LGBT community!!!!

Obama is not short on ideas

Here are some ideas which Obama is proposing only 15 minutes into his address:

-Modest fee for banks to pay back to tax payers

-tax cuts, powered by the recovery act (stimulus bill)

-Financing is difficult for small businesses….30 billion to help community banks give loans to small businesses

-small business tax credit….hire workers or raise wages

-No capital gains tax on small business investment

-High speed railway (I hope they don't hire the Chinese again)

Pelosi....so agile for an old woman

In standard Pelosi fashion, the Speaker of the House is once again bobbing up and down like a buoy washing down a rapid river.

The President Begins

As Obama's cool, yet stern face appeared on the camera once again, he began speaking with an elegance matched only by what I might describe as the 'Voice of God' (aka Don La Fontaine). His first utterance is that of history, recalling crucial moments within the United States' past and tying them to present day hardships.

State of the Union

Tonight the President will attempt to recapture the hearts and minds of the citizens which have abandoned their hopes for him over this past year. It seems only appropriate that I use the President's annual address to reinvigorate this barren blog. So, over the next hour or so I will be posting live updates on the State of the Union, pointing out my likes and dislikes, and following it up with comments on the Republicans response.

Goodbyr Bush, Hello Obama

So, it has finally happened.....OBAMA IS PRESIDENT!!!!!! Now, unlike the unmotivated slackers of the world who claim responsibility for a victory that is not theirs, I will be slow in slinging too many insults Bush's way; however, when I do say one, it will be said with an unshakable smile.

Anyways, to make this short, I simply want to congratulate President Obama on his hard fought journey. And I will be first in line to help President Obama usher in a new era upon this country.

Richardson's Getting the Shaft

RICHARDSON JUST GOT FUCKED!!! By that, I mean New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D) was recently named President-elect Obama's Secretary of Commerce. While this is still a substantial position, it is in a sense a political demotion.

Under Clinton Richardson was the Secretary of Energy, a position which managed a $25 billion budget and 100,000 employees. With Richardson's new position, he will be working with a $6.5 billion budget and 28,000 employees...considerably less than his previous post and considerably less than he deserves, and is capable of.

As many were, I was excited at the prospect of this extremely well qualified governor becoming Obama's new Secretary of State....as it turns out, that position is going to Hillary Clinton. This will hopefully prove to be a good appointment, and not Obama's first mistake.

Razia's Shadow. A Musical

So, I just wanted to put up a post honoring the greatest piece of musical art ever constructed...Razia's Shadow. This is a collaborative piece which was spear headed by Forgive Durden's front man, Thomas Dutton.

If you do not like this album...then you don't deserve to live.

Powell Helps Obama

This past Sunday on Meet The Press, retired general and former Secretary of State, Colin Powell, came out of the political shadows and endorsed Senator Barack Obama. This endorsement, unlike many others, is actually important.

One of the key arguments which McCain poses towards Obama is that he is weak when it comes to national security. And since Powell is a highly respected Republican and former decorated general and Secretary of State, if McCain now tries to question Obama on national security he will in turn be questioning Powell as well.

This, essentially, takes away one of McCain's biggest arguments, and also will help sway those undecided votes who also questioned Obama's strength on national security.

On behalf of all Obama supporters....I thank you Gen. Powell.

Some Fucking Idiot On Youtube

This is a message sent to me by dirtyrob....

you are a dumb ass...you dont have a brother in Iraq who disagrees with the great video made by one of our countries bravest. Nothing but a typical LIBERAL LIE to attempt to wash away the truth. Even if your brother is in Iraq, he is in a definite minority. In a recent poll, it was shown that 89.8% of former active duty military who served in Iraq, still support the cause. You cock sucking libs are always for helping others out and being humanitarians, but when the Republicans make a decision to be humanitarians, you shit dicks twist things around and turn a positive act into a lie. You are one of those dumb asses who is trying to blame our economy on Bush. Many people, John McCain included warned of the forth coming crisis. Clinton was told that his decision to GIVE loans to undeserving LAZY ASS non working good for nothing losers would be great for the economy on a short term basis, but would eventually lead to a crisis due to these idiots inability to afford the ARM loans once their rates began to increase. But your head is so far up your ass, even if you did get it out, you would still be confused due to all the shit in your ears that you have allowed to go to your brain. Bush is partially to blame simply because he was not forceful enough in th 17 times who approached Congress about the problem...in which all 17 times, congress denied the problem and refused to make the corrections he suggested. So, go ahead, believe your parties BABY KILLING, GIVING MONEY TO THE LAZY NON WORKING, ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT SUPPORTING, HOMOSEXUAL PROMOTING ass monkeys. (btw, you look like you might be gay, so i hope this offends your peter puffing ass). Use common sense, the PLUMBING DONT WORK!!! Its dumb asses like you who are ruining our country and making other countries laugh at us. Why would a country who absolutely HATES us, Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, just to name a few, want whats best for us. They all support Barack, because they know if we get him in office, they can benefit from it. They would love more than anything to see out country destroyed, and they KNOW Barack is the man who will destroy iy.

This was my response...

Re: Typical Liberal ass hole
Re: Typical Liberal ass hole
Hahaha, wow, I see you have a colorful vocabulary...I am guessing you didn't learn that in an institution of higher learning. Let me just start by saying, ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? You are supporting a candidate who is making the suggestion to tax your employer for healthcare (something which has never been done before), and then he is going to cover it up with a blown up tax credit.

Then you have the Bush Tax Cuts, which give money to the wealthiest 1%, that John McCain is going to be continuing...I can definitely see why you like him so much. Conservatives want to make the poor poorer, and the rich more wealthy. It is an unAmerican belief that people don't deserve the right to pursuit of happiness.

And then you have your insults. You call liberals "baby killers", "homosexual promoters", etc...Just because someone believes women to have the choice whether or not to have a child. And "homosexual promoter"....really. Are you that ignorant? And that is an honest question, how could you be so narrow minded as to actually believe that something like the promotion of rights for homosexuals is a bad thing? After that, pretty much everything you say is null and void.

Oh, and do you honestly think if John McCain (your presidential nominee of choice) saw this message that he would approve...no. You are the kind of person who gives America a bad name.

P.S. And my brother is a veteran and he deserves your respect. He has been over there and he understands that Iraq was, and still is, a mistake.

The First Presidential debate

So, in case you haven't heard....Obama fucking killed the debate. For those of you who didn't attend the ISU Dems debate party, let me tell you how it went.

This topical debate was centered around foreign relations, however, in light of the current economic crisis, the moderator, Jim Leher, found room for some relevant economic questions(Obama ruled with poise over these questions.)

As the debate surged forward, what was suppossed to be McCain's shining night, turned out to be a rude awakening of his poor understanding of the issues and realistic solutions for them.

Signature McCain moves used throughout the night:

-The awkward smile
-The awkward laugh
-The irrelevant historical reference
-The "I can't raise my arms" shoulder shrug

One would think, naturally, that with moves like that you could not lose...but you can....and he did.

On an unfortunate note, CNN (my savior of network news programs) spun the debate to make it seem as if it was some sort of neck and neck fight. We heard things like "McCain held his own" and "McCain was on Offense"...I am not sure if we actually watched the same debate.
